My third and final day in the Mara. Kick-started by another early morning game drive, and a few more hours of wildlife-watching before I got back on my tiny plane to head back to Nairobi. It’s hard to imagine going back to the office as if it was just another weekend after all this!
Sunrise over the plains
Early morning Gnus – the early morning light was truly breathtaking
Tons of Tommie gazelles
Rather regal looking lion waking up
Me standing up in the van, enjoying the morning views and wrapped up from the cold in my new Maasai shuka (woollen shawl)
Rather lovely silhouette of a giraffe on a hilltop in the early morning light
One of the lads in our group, horsing around…. ho ho ho
And then we spotted a cheetah.
And she started to run…
She was of course too fast for us, but we caught up with her just after her kill….
Isn’t she glorious?
What a beauty!
Some more hartebeasts
And yet more lions…
More Cape Buffalo
And then we stumbled across the shagging lions again! They were quite literally shagged out when we first arrived….
But then our man got his second wind
Bit of “roar-play” there – yes, I do love my puns.
Aaaaaaaand they’re off!
It was all very quick – check the video out if you want to see the live show. Here he is afterwards, having a quick stretch before he flopped back down, exhausted.
