Oh my goodness, I’ve gotten so behind on my blogging, I completely forgot to post anything about my trip to Canada this May! Doh!
I flew home from Iraq for a bit of a holiday, and then pinged off to the farthest reaches of Canada to celebrate a friend’s wedding. I’ve never been to Canada before (so it’s a big win for my scratch map – Canada’s huge!), and it was really wonderful.
I flew to Vancouver, and then took a tiny plane onwards to Tofino, on Vancouver Island. Everything was lush and green and huge – big beaches, big open spaces, enormous trees etc. Tofino is a fantastic little town – really small and quaint, and the perfect place for a holiday if you like hiking, walking, surfing, swimming, fishing, cycling, whale-watching, bird-spotting, great food, and fabulous views. It’s very outdoorsy, but really gorgeous!
I went whale-watching, and saw Grey Whales, Sea Otters, Sea-Lions and Bald Eagles – all sorts of cool things, as well as going to a pretty amazing wedding too!
Here are some pics from my trip:
Flying over bits of Canada on the way (I think – or possibly Greenland…)
Totem poles at Vancouver Airport
Tiny plane!

Girly day making wedding decorations and centerpieces!
Lovely lunch and then a short hike around a trail

On my way down the beach to the wedding – took this picture by accident but I rather like it!
A really lovely wedding on the beach – am avoiding posting pics of people on here, as they may prefer not to be on a blog, so just a few pics of the decorations etc.
Gorgeous driftwood arch
Squishing my toes in the sand
Bride and Groom take a walk on the beach after the ceremony
Perfect place to go for your post-wedding hangover nap…
OMG STEPH STOP DOING STUFF SOME OF US ALREADY FEEL BADLY ENOUGH ABOUT GETTING TIRED AFTER A SHORT WALK TO THE SHOPS! And anyway aren’t you supposed to be unplugging land mines or something how can you do all this blogging?! Now go and stand in the corner and think about what you did. Love you xx
Hahaha – thanks Ol! Sorry about the onslaught of posts! Most of these are things I did back in March, April and May, but I was far too busy doing cool stuff to blog about it all at the time. Now that I’m back in an extremely boring and remote part of Kurdistan with some time to kill, I thought I would try and catch up….
Afraid there’s plenty more to come…. And you’ll get some pictures of my work over here too shortly.
