The last 2 days of my trip to Jordan… Both Madaba and Mount Nebu are known for their ancient mosaics.
1st stop, Mount Nebu -driving up from the dead sea to the peak.
Some sort of ancient stone door I think – the type that you roll across a cave mouth or some such thing.
The first of the ancient mosaics – most of them were under construction/renovation at the time I went.
And here’s the famous view – supposedly this is where God showed Moses the promised land before he died.
I don’t know what these flowers were, but they smelled heavenly!
Onwards to Madaba next – the Mosaic City….
This is believed to be the oldest map of the holy land, or something to that effect – I can’t actually remember now, but it’s very famous and very old. It was discovered on the floor of a Greek Orthodox Church in Madaba.
And then on to Amman, just for the night, with a very quick walk around the amphitheatre and bazaar…
