These two young male giraffes face-off with each other. Giraffe fights look fairly hilarious until you realise that they often fight to the death, and usually one will crawl off and die if it is injured badly in the fight. Which is really sad, cos giraffes are awesome.
My trip to Hell’s Gate National Park was a bit of a last-minute decision, and I’m so glad I went – it was incredible!

Camp Carnelley’s was the place that I stayed at for my weekend in Naivasha, and came at the recommendation of several friends. Having stayed there, I can understand why so many people recommended it, and thought it was worthy of a short review here in my blog.
Right on the lake front, Carnelley’s is reasonably priced and has a range of options for all budgets, from a private banda that sleeps 6, to single and twin rooms, to dormitories and camping, the accommodation goes from 12,000 Kenyan shillings per night to 800 for a camping spot.
Actually it’s TINY.
Especially in the aid sector.
Especially if you’re in Nairobi.
As one colleague put it, everyone passes through Nairobi eventually.
But still, it’s a little bit insane. After a mere 2 weeks here I have bumped into no less than 7 former colleagues or friends who happened to be in or passing through Nairobi at the same time. It’s utter madness. Continue reading
